It maintains contact and rapport with prisons, jails and juvenile facilities, keeping abreast of rules and regulations of the institutions and providing that information to visiting groups.Iit appoints a meeting contact person for each institution, solicits and coordinates volunteer groups to attend weekly meetings, arranges for Conference approved literature to be available for inmates, collects contributions through the Little Green Can to help pay for that literature and holds workshops forvolunteers and other interested AA members.

Cooperating with the Professional Community (CPC)- CPC provides an awareness of A.A. among the professionals working where they encounter active alcoholics. The focus is on "cooperation but not affiliation". Telephone Answering Service (TAS)-TAS is a committee of approximately 60 A.A. members who staff the telephone for calls to A.A. in Indianapolis in the off hours. Even though Central Office is closed, the hand of A.A. is available. There are 400-450 calls per month to the 24-hour answering service. TAS arranges 12 Step calls using the 12 Step List, provides meeting information, when possible finds rides to meetings for A.A. out-of-towners and holds workshops for TAS volunteers.

Paper II Committee- The Paper II Committee assembles, edits and prints a monthly newsletter which allows A. A. members to share their experience, strength and hope in print. It publishes meeting changes, upcoming events and activities.

Archives Committee- The Archivist and the Archives committee collecst, catalogs, compiles and preserves material pertinent to the history of A. A. in Indianapolis. The committee interviews and records the "old timers" recollections and stories and, when possible, make these displays available at A. A. events. Some archives material is on display at the Central Office.

Special Events Committee- The Special Events Committee arranges the annual Intergroup Banquet in October, the annual picnic in June, and any other events sponsored by Intergroup.

Central Office Staffing

Continuity in our volunteer staffing is our goal at the Central office. Whether it is a four hour shift or an eight hour shift, the fact that it is weekly ensures a fully knowledgeable force. Answering the phone is the best way to talk to a "wet" drunk. Talk with recovering people every day, in for a meeting, calling for directions, buying literature. Everything that happens at the Central office, the volunteers are part of!
